When I found out that I was pregnant, I immediately thought of the things I have to buy for my baby. I was very excited that I want to immediately know the gender of the little angel in my stomach so that I will be able to choose the color appropriate for a boy or a girl. However, my doctor said that it is too early in my pregnancy to know the gender of my baby. She told me that I have to wait for at least a month or so.
However, the mother in me shouts “No! I can’t wait that long!” And so, the moment my husband got home one day, I asked if what color looks neutral for him. After a long debate, we decided that the color has to be green. So, green it is. Still, I can’t wait for the morning, and so, I started looking for baby stuffs online. I saw a couple of green infant sleepers in one of the sites I was able to visit. I did not think twice to order two of the cutest. I also saw several pretty girls pajamas and I was tempted to buy a few. However, I know that I should stick first to the neutrals, since we are yet to be notified if our baby will be a ‘he’ or a ‘she’.
I was so proud of myself for not spending too much money at the office supply store. I really wanted to stock up on everything, before we officially opened our doors on Monday. I resisted the urge to get office supplies for the next six months and bought enough for a month, or so I think.
My sister is my partner in this business venture and she is not worried about a thing. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I have my whole life savings invested in this business and she just has to show up on Monday and answer phones.
The saleswoman that helped me set up a credit account at the office supply store asked me what kind of business I was starting up and she told me that it sounded like a great idea. I sure hope that she meant that, and was not just trying to sell me more office supplies than I needed.
If for some reason, this whole thing does not work out and I lose my entire investment then I will still be fine since my old boss told me that he would hire me back anytime and that he admired my ambition to go out on my own.
